YOUR SAFE RETURN TO THE WORKPLACE

INTRODUCTION

Black and Blue Limited is a training and consultancy company that focuses on Health and Safety and Security of both your workplace and employees. In Kenya, the first case of COVID-19 was reported on 13th March 2020, and since then the cases have risen to over 5000 in a span of 4 months. This prompted the government to put up measures to try and minimize the spread and effects of COVID-19, nonetheless, the pandemic has brought the Kenyan economy to its knees and further affected many businesses and organizations in its wake.

IMPACT OF COVID-19 TO BUSINESSES AND ORGANIZATIONS

In Kenya, the impact of COVID-19 is being felt in different ways by both employers and employees. After a number of cases were reported in our country, the government went ahead and put measures in place to mitigate the effects of the pandemic, such as cessation of movement in and out of certain counties, dusk to dawn curfew, ban on public gatherings, ban on passenger flights in and out of the country, among others. Following these measures there were adverse effects faced by organizations such as business closures, pay cuts, loss of employment, gender based violence and insecurity among others.

WAY FORWARD

Once the government determines it’s safe for businesses to reopen, the health and well-being of your workforce is of the utmost importance, now and in the future. It’s important to consider health and safety from every angle and take extra precautions to safeguard your employees’ and customers’ health.

This being our new normal, therefore, establishing a health and safety protocol to protect against COVID-19 is non-negotiable. The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) have come up with guidelines for health and safety in the workplace and advisories before allowing employees back to the workplace.

Black and Blue will interpret, guide, and offer its professional expertise in Health and Safety policy formulation, implementing the DOSH guidelines, and further offers tailored audit services for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), Fire and Risk Assessment as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 2007, section 11 to meet the needs of the organization.
